The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mrs Linda Obe­newaa Akweley Ocloo, has called on the public to embrace the soon-to-be- introduced Regional Sanitation Day to make it a success She reiterated her commit­ment to improving the sanitation situation in the capital for a cleaner environment essential for the well­being of the citizenry.

The Minister, who disclosed this during her first working visit to the Korle Klottey (KoKMA) Municipal Assembly in Accra yesterday, said she would strictly implement the regional Sanitation Day initiative in order to help rid the city of filth.

The Regional urged the Munic­ipal Assemblies in the capital to strengthen their waste management strategies and enhance community engagement on sanitation issues.

She further urged the assemblies to enforce sanitations regulations and byelaws to maintain a hygienic environment. "I urge you to embrace the regional sanitation day to make it a success, sanitation issues would be prioritised under my tenure as Regional Minister." She reiterated her commitment to the provision and maintenance of streetlights in the country saying they were crucial for security and urban development. "Ensuring that our streets are well-lit not only enhances safety but also contributes to econom­ic activity by extending business hours in key commercial areas," she added.
