The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) is set to commence its nationwide strike today, February 20, 2025, following the government's refusal to remove Samuel Adom Botchway from his position as Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry.
Despite earlier assurances from the government to reassign Mr.
Botchway, CLOGSAG argues that his continued presence at the Registry-evidenced by his participation in the office's budget hearing on February 17-proves that the government has backtracked on its commitment.
In a statement on Wednesday, CLOGSAG reaffirmed its stance, stating that the strike was a necessary response to what it describes as the government's intransigence.
