Ghanaian President, John Dramani Mahama, has banned his appointees from travelling first-class in a move aimed at saving money and also discouraging the lavish excesses that are usually typical among such appointees.

The President, speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of new ministers at the Jubilee House on February 7th, said his administration is determined to show respect to the Ghanaian people by cutting down on extravagant activities.

Mahama, who returned to power on a promise of 'resetting' the Ghanaian economy, said he had directed his Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, to already put the edict into effect.

Henceforth, all Ghanaian officials traveling will not have first-class travel available to them.
