Governance Lecturer at the Central University, Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah has kicked against the abolition of betting tax. It could be recalled that the Akufo-Addo government introduced a 10% tax on the net income of gamblers. To the government, this will help in enhancing the country's development but to the stakeholders, the tax is a burden. In view of this, the presidential candidate of the (NPP), , in his 2024 manifesto, has pledged to cancel both the betting tax and E-Levy to alleviate the plight of Ghanaians.
