President John Dramani Mahama has called on the newly sworn-in Council of State to serve as a source of wisdom and practical solutions in tackling the country's pressing challenges.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony in Accra on Tuesday, February 18, Mahama emphasized that the council's role is not merely symbolic but a crucial part of governance, requiring integrity, experience, and sound judgment. "…It is in this state that the Council of State was established, to serve as a fountain of guidance, a reservoir of experience and a patrician of non-partisan insight for the executive arm of government. "The Council of State as a distinguished advisory body, is composed of men and women with integrity, experience and sound judgement," he stated.
Ghana faces economic difficulties, social cohesion issues, and the need to strengthen democratic institutions.
Mahama stressed that the council's input must go beyond rhetoric and contribute to meaningful governance. "The time we find ourselves in, demands nothing less than selfless service, constructive dialogue and unwavering patriotism.
