Renowned statesman and (NPP) elder, Kwame Pianim, has come to the defense of the ruling (NDC) government regarding its efforts to address illegal mining activities in the country.
According to him, the administration is barely eight months into its four-year term, and as such, it would be unfair to judge its efforts in tackling illegal mining at this stage.
Speaking in an interview with TV3, and shared on its YouTube page on August 14, 2025, Pianim said, "Look, the president has arrived barely eight months.
Who am I to judge him?" The NPP Stalwart further questioned critics, pointing out that the previous (NPP) administration, despite serving two consecutive terms totaling eight years, was unable to eradicate the galamsey menace.
