The Commercial Division of the High Court in Accra has reportedly thrown out a suit against Kantanka Automobile Company Limited and its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kwadwo Safo Jnr, over a social media pledge.
The company and its CEO were sued by a private citizen, Jude Osei, for supposedly failing to honour a pledge to reward social media users who were able to share a certain number of posts on the company's product, with a car.
According to a report by thelawplatform.online, the court, during proceedings on February 17, 2025, ruled that the plaintiff failed to prove that the social media handle used to make the promise of a car reward for a certain number of posts belonged to an agent of Kantanka Automobile Company Limited.
It added that the account used to make the pledge, as argued by the defendants, was fake and, therefore, the company cannot be held responsible for the promise it was used to make.
