At least nine people have been confirmed dead with 15 others sustaining injuries in a gory accident which occurred on the Tamale-Bolgatanga Highway.
The accident, which took place at the Walewale stretch of the highway in the North East Region on Friday afternoon, involved a Mercedes mini Sprinter bus with registration number GW 8889-15 and a Mercedes Benz cargo truck with registration number AS 9189 F.
According to an eyewitness, the Sprinter bus was travelling from Kumasi towards Nalerigu while the cargo car was travelling from Bolgatanga in the direction of Tamale.
He said upon reaching the Walewale Petrosol filling station along the stretch where the two vehicles were approaching, a motorcycle rider from nowhere crossed the road from the filling station without any caution.
