Nsoatreman on Wednesday evening released a statement distancing themselves from remarks made by the club's General Manager (GM), Eric Alagidede, regarding Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's promise to provide buses for Ghana Premier League teams.
Dr Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer for the 2024 Ghana Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, had pledged to deliver 18 buses to the clubs if elected into office, aiming to alleviate their transportation challenges. Alagidede, speaking on GHOne, expressed scepticism about the relevance of this promise, suggesting that tax rebates for sports goods would be a more immediate and pressing need for the clubs. He said, "I don't think a Premier League club without a bus exists. These are not the immediate needs of clubs in Ghana if you ask me. We have consistently, government after government, asked for tax rebates for clearing of sports goods."
However, Nsoatreman insists Alagidede's comments were his personal opinions and did not reflect the official stance of the club.
"The club does not subscribe to the opinion of our general manager on the matter and thus dissociates itself from same," part of the statement read.
"The club fully supports any intervention by government to alleviate the challenges faced by football clubs in the country including Dr Bawumia's promise to help each league club acquire a suitable bus for its operations."
Nsoatreman FC are currently competing in the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time, having secured their spot by winning last season's FA Cup.
