The Ashanti Caucus of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Parliament has urged the Electoral Commission to change the venue for the rerun of the Council of State election in the region.

This follows violent disruptions during the initial poll on February 11.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Asante Mampong MP, Kweku Apratwum Sarpong, insisted that the Central Police Station should be used for the rerun to ensure security and transparency. "We cannot afford a repeat of the chaos we witnessed in the first election.

The only way to guarantee order and fairness is to hold the rerun at a neutral and secured location, like the Central Police Station," he suggested.
