The founding president of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has criticized former Minister of Finance , calling him "heartless and careless" over his handling of state funds and his current legal troubles.

In a social media post on February 14, 2025, Franklin Cudjoe asserted that Ofori-Atta had misappropriated US$58 million from state coffers, funds that could have been used to construct a modern hospital.

Instead, he said, the money was wasted on a "fake cathedral" that never materialized, forcing the former minister to seek medical treatment abroad after his tenure in office. "The only comment I will make about the former finance minister's predicament is that he was very careless and heartless.

Had he invested the US$58m he plundered from state vaults into building a modern hospital, he needn't run to the clinic in the US for treatment.
