Lawyer Evans Amankwa has alleged that Ghana has suffered significant financial losses due to corruption under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, calling for urgent measures to reclaim stolen state resources.
He emphasized that the level of wealth accumulation among certain government officials was alarming and unacceptable in an interview on Metro TV monitored by MyNewsGH. "The state has been robbed seriously," he declared. "The opulence alone was too much.
Some people who were nowhere within a short time started building mansions, riding in expensive cars that they could not ordinarily afford." Amankwa pointed to incidents where individuals close to power were seen flaunting large sums of money and acquiring multimillion-dollar properties.
He recalled reports of a government official allegedly keeping over a million dollars in cash at home, calling it an unprecedented occurrence in Ghana's political history.
