Daniel Domelevo, former Auditor-General and member of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team, has stated that the majority of corruption-related cases submitted to President John Dramani Mahama require thorough auditing before any legal action can be taken.
Speaking on the Citi FM on Tuesday, February 11, Domelevo clarified that while the ORAL team compiled over 2,417 corruption-related cases, they did not conduct investigations but rather gathered information for further scrutiny. "The President promised he was going to recover all loot, and after the elections, he was inundated by messages of reported corruption.
So he thought it wise to put us together to collect that information," he explained.
He emphasized that independent forensic audits are necessary to establish procurement breaches and financial fraud. "The bulk of it needs auditing to establish those had procurement breaches and cases that were not in line with the laws of Ghana because we didn't do any investigation.
