The Chairman of the employment committee of the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations (GFD), Mr Daniel Lartey, on Monday urged the advocacy committee to mainstream issues affecting children with disabilities in their advocacy programmes.
He said, "Issues affecting children with disabilities in Ghana are under-reported and GFD should position itself to be the go-to place for issues affecting them and their families." Mr Lartey, a person who is visually impaired and a teacher at the Akropong School for the Blind, noted this at the advocacy committee meeting of the GFD.
The advocacy committee of the GFD met to plan their advocacy for the year and to review what has been done already.
Mr Lartey further stated that it was important that issues affecting children with disabilities and their families were highlighted to draw the government's attention.
