Sam Nartey George, the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram and Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, has emphasized the need for proper housekeeping measures in Parliament to address quorum issues.

Speaking in an interview with Samson Lardy on Joy News monitored by MyNewsGH, he argued that members engaged in parliamentary business outside the main chamber should still be considered present for quorum purposes. "If for the purposes of votes and proceedings you record a member who is within the precincts, not necessarily in the chamber, as being present, then for the business of quorum, it stands to reason that members of Parliament engaged in parliamentary ad hoc committee meetings or committee meetings must be counted as part of quorum," he stated.

His remarks come amid ongoing concerns over parliamentary attendance and the impact of MPs holding dual roles as ministers.

While acknowledging that restricting MPs from serving as ministers would not entirely solve the problem, he maintained that institutional changes were necessary to ensure the House functions effectively. "Parliament itself must do proper house cleaning and housekeeping," he insisted.
