Energy Expert, Dr Elikplim Kwabla Apetorgbor has said that in the modern technology era, it is untenable for the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to continue chasing customers for electricity payments.
Inadequate revenue collection, commercial losses, and technical losses are not justifiable when digital solutions exist to eliminate these inefficiencies, he said.
Across the globe, he added, utilities are leveraging technology to ensure financial sustainability, and Ghana must follow suit.
The adoption of prepaid smart intelligent meters is a proven model that guarantees upfront revenue collection, eliminates bad debts, and streamlines operations.
