Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has explained why he thinks President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is unwilling to hand over to him if he wins the 2024 general elections. In his view, President Akufo-Ado is aware that his 'corrupt acts' will not be shielded if the NDC wins the elections. In a post on his Facebook page, Mr Mahama said "Do you know why President Akufo-Addo is fighting against handing over to me? John Mahama will not protect his legacy of mismanagement, corruption, state capture, and inflicting hardship and poverty on Ghanaians."
President Akufo-Addo had sated several times that he could not hand over to someone he defeated twice in the elections. It is recalled that while addressing supporters at a mini rally in Doboro in the Greater Accra region following a visit to the premises of Blue Skies Limited Mr Akufo-Addo said "The registration has started, I urge all persons yet to register to do so, your vote is your power.
"I can't hand over to someone I defeated twice and is not happy with everything I do, he will destroy the work that I have done.
