Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has criticized Speaker Alban Bagbin's decision to suspend four MPs, adding that the move by the speaker constitutes traces of partisanship Speaker Bagbin on Friday, January 31 suspended Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Majority Chief Whip, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor along with two NPP MPs Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli and Jerry Ahmed Shaib, from parliamentary sittings for two weeks, effective Friday, January 31.

This came after the violent confrontations at the Appointments Committee on Thursday evening and Friday morning.

In an interview with Channel One News, Oppong Nkrumah argued that the Speaker did not follow due process in his decisions as he sanctioned the members without giving them the right to a fair hearing.

According to him, the standing orders of the house do not give the speaker the right to punish the members as a special committee is supposed to be set to carry out investigations before sanctions are made.
