Africa's youth are getting tired and frustrated at the lack of opportunity to realize their dreams on the continent; this is according to the president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama.
He indicates that it was expected the continent's decision to practice democracy would have come with benefits and progress for the people.
However, the success of this, he explains, has been very sluggish and largely intangible. "If we have to maintain the faith and trust of our citizens in democratic and constitutional governance, we have to accelerate our rates of economic growth, expand investments, and provide employment opportunities for our young people," he said while addressing the audience at Africa Prosperity dialogue.
As leaders, therefore, we must reaffirm our commitment to strengthen democratic institutions ensuring free, fair and transparent elections, we must fight corruption which robs our nations of resources needed for development and we must promote peace," he said.
