Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister-designate for the Foreign Affairs Ministry, has assured Ghanaians that efforts will be made to transform the challenge of brain drain into a significant opportunity for national development.
The phenomenon of brain drain refers to the situation whereby highly trained professionals leave from a particular country to reside abroad.
Speaking before the Appointments Committee on Friday, January 31, he stated that Ghana will implement strategies to convert the loss of skilled professionals into a gain for the country.
Ablakwa emphasised that while many highly skilled Ghanaians leave the country in search of better opportunities abroad, their expertise and global networks should be leveraged to benefit national progress. "We will ensure that brain drain becomes brain gain by creating the right environment for our professionals abroad to contribute meaningfully to Ghana's development," he assured the Committee.
