Minister-Designate for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has pledged to introduce a unit within the Foreign Affairs Ministry that will focus on the substantive delivery of Ambassadors, High Commissioners and staff of the country's missions.
Appearing before Parliament's Appointments Committee during his vetting on Friday, January 30, Ablakwa emphasised that his administration will formulate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess the work of staff of the various embassies.
Ablakwa emphasised that ambassadors and high commissioners must not only be ceremonial figures but also work to bring benefits to the country.
According to him, the various embassies must engage in economic diplomacy thus, negotiating and bringing in investors and advancing the country's interest.
