Ghana's Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams has unequivocally said the country does not want to miss out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His remarks follow after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in two decades.
Under the guidance of Otto Addo, Ghana finished the qualifiers at the bottom of its group with three points after recording three draws and three defeats.
Expressing his disappointment after the team's failure to qualify for the AFCON tournament, the Member of Parliament for the people of Buem constituency said the country does not want to miss out on the Mundial.
Despite the aim to secure qualification for the global showpiece, Mr Adams insisted that the right things must be done. "It doesn't speak well that the African continent will meet for a football competition and Ghana isn't there," he told Sporty FM. "The next competition that we don't want to miss is the World Cup but this wish should not lead to a decision that will not help us," he added.
