Minister of Sports and Recreation-designate, Kofi Adams has hinted that discussions are underway to ensure that financial assistance for players plying their trade in the Ghanaian topflight is underway.

Low wages for players in the Ghana Premier League remain a key challenge which has forced several players to abandon playing in the topflight.

This challenge has also led to mass player exodus which accounted for low quality in the topflight.

Speaking at the Vetting Committee, Mr Adams says keeping the best players in Ghana Premier League remains a focal point of discussion and making stipends available is an option. "We talked about giving them allowances so we can retain a number of our players," the member of Parliament for Buem constituency said. "Some of them leave the shores of this country to play in war-torn countries just because their earnings are so low. "The whole idea is to retain players by giving them stipends. "We think it will go a long way to improve the league," he added.
