President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has assured the people of Ghana to fulfil his promise of revoking all leases issued by the previous government for mining in forest reserves.
Apart from that, the government will also ban the issuance of mining leases in all forest reserves.
This was made known while swearing in some of his ministers at the Presidency on January 30, 2025.
The President denied claims that some elements in his government have given a group of three the authority to mine in the Tano Anwia Forest Reserve. "The government will ban the issuance of mining leases in all forest reserves and promptly revoke all leases issued under the previous government.
