President John Dramani Mahama has said that the work of the Constitutional Review Committee is about Ghana, not the interest of any political party.
He also assured that the exercise will not be an exercise in futility. "Your work will not be in vain, this will not be an exercise in futility…this exercise is not about any political party, it is about Ghana," he said when he swore into office the committee members at a function at the seat of government, the Jubilee House in Accra on Thursday, January 30.
The committee which has six months to finish its work starting today Thursday, January 30, 202,5 is chaired by the Executive Director of the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD- Ghana) Professor H Kwasi Prempeh.
The committee comprises legal scholars, political scientists, and civil society leaders, all recognized for their expertise and commitment to good governance. The committee is tasked with identifying gaps and challenges in the implementation of previous constitutional review efforts, engaging with stakeholders to gather diverse perspectives, and formulating actionable recommendations to strengthen Ghana's democratic institutions and processes.
