The Constitutional Review Committee that has been formed by President John Dramani Mahama has six months to complete its work and submit a report in July 2025.
The committee was sworn into office on Thursday, January 30 by President John Dramani Mahama at the seat of government, the Jubilee House. "Your work will not be in vain, this will not be an exercise in futility…this exercise is not about any political party, it is about Ghana," he said.
Speaking on behalf of the committee members, the Committee Chair, Professor H Kwasi Premnpeh said "For the next six months…we also pledge that we will return the trust with equal sincerity and seriousness with the sole aim of bettering the fortunes of our people." The committee comprises legal scholars, political scientists, and civil society leaders, all recognized for their expertise and commitment to good governance. The committee is tasked with identifying gaps and challenges in the implementation of previous constitutional review efforts, engaging with stakeholders to gather diverse perspectives, and formulating actionable recommendations to strengthen Ghana's democratic institutions and processes.
