The Vice President of the National House of Chiefs, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II, has appealed to the King of Dagbon, Ndan Ya-Na Abukari to intervene to bring finality to the Bawku chieftaincy dispute.
According to him, the peace of Bawku is paramount to the economic development of northern Ghana.
Speaking through his Secretary, Neripewura Panfia Kipson, at the Gbewa palace in Yendi when he paid a courtesy call on Ya-Na Abukari II, King and Overlord of Dagbon Kingdom to thank him and the people of Dagbon for the support they gave him which aided him to win the National House of Chiefs Vice President position, Buipewura Jinapor, emphasized the need for peace in Bawku "Ndan Ya-Na, the biggest and escalated chieftaincy conflict in northern Ghana now is the Bawku chieftaincy conflict which predates the independence of Ghana and as you are aware, peace is not just an end goal, but a process that requires efforts, commitment and dedication for resolution," he said.
He continued, "I appeal to you to intervene in this matter just as I call on the feuding factions in the Bawku chieftaincy conflict to cease fire for a congenial environment to accelerate the peace process." He congratulated President John Dramani Mahama for the historic visit to Bawku and Nayiri in search for amicable solution to the Bawku chieftaincy conflict.
