Officials at the Northern Zone of West African Examination Council (WAEC) in Kumasi have urged parents to remain calm, assuring them that the vetting of some of the 2024 WASSCE candidates is solely aimed at identifying those involved in any form of examination malpractice.

They emphasized that candidates found innocent will be cleared, and their certificates will be released.

This follows a near-chaotic scene at WAEC's Northern Zonal Office in Kumasi, where frustrated parents, some having travelled from as far as the Northern and Upper West regions protested the council's request for their wards to write reports following the withholding of their WASSCE results.

Many expressed displeasure over the short notice, with some even threatening legal action.
