Kidney specialists and surgeons in the Ashanti Region have successfully performed the region's first-ever kidney transplant, marking a major milestone in medical advancements and offering renewed hope to kidney disease patients.
The historic surgery was carried out at the Kidney Specialist Center in collaboration with the HopeXchange Medical Centre in Kumasi.
The procedure saved the life of a man in his mid-forties who had been battling kidney disease for the past five years.
After undergoing dialysis for about a year, the patient agreed to a kidney transplant following consultations with medical experts at the centre.
