The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has announced plans to summon the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission, Emeafa Hardcastle, for a probe on Thursday, January 30, 2025, following an alleged altercation with Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Nsawam Adoagyiri MP.

The decision follows a widely circulated video capturing a confrontation between the lawmaker and Hardcastle during a short break at the Appointments Committee's vetting on Tuesday, January 28.

Annoh-Dompreh formally appealed to the Speaker, requesting consequential orders and urging the formation of the Privileges Committee, citing the incident as an unprovoked attack on his reputation as a legislator.

In response, Speaker Bagbin announced the planned appearance of Hardcastle, with a commitment to update Parliament on the matter by Friday. "By Friday, I will revert to the House, I hope this is acceptable to the House." The Member of Parliament for Tamale South and Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu condemned the conduct of the Acting CEO of the Petroleum Commission, demanding an apology and retraction.
