The Catholic Archdiocese of Accra has reaffirmed its stance that Catholicism and Freemasonry are incompatible, stating that no individual can be both a true Catholic and a Freemason.
In a recent statement signed by Most Rev.
John Bonaventure Kwofie, Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, the Church clarified that its teachings on Freemasonry have not changed and remain in line with the "Declaration on Masonic Associations" issued by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in 1983.
The document explicitly states that "Masonic principles are irreconcilable with the doctrine of the Church" and warns that Catholics who join Masonic associations commit a grave sin and may not receive Holy Communion.
