The Agbogbomefia of Asogli state Togbe Afede XIV, has expressed his admiration for the action taken by President John Mahama in establishing the Constitutional Review Committee.

He said it during the President's Thank You tour in the Volta Region.

In an address to the gathering in Ho, Togbe Afede commended the President for recognising the urgent need to address the country's outdated constitution, which he believes has contributed to a culture of impunity. "I have always said that our constitution has outlived its usefulness, and it is partly the reason why impunity has thrived," Togbe Afede remarked. "People take national assets without any fear, and that has become a serious problem for our country," he said on Friday, January 24.

Togbe Afede expressed his appreciation for President Mahama's commitment to reviewing this aspect, viewing it as an essential step towards improving governance and ensuring accountability. "It is heartening to see that you are addressing this issue, particularly because we have long believed that the concentration of power in the hands of the president needs to be reconsidered" he said.
