John, the Minister-designate of Northern Region, has given the assurance to tackle the root cause of conflicts in the Region because "I don't want the Northern Region to be tagged as a region always fighting".
He promised to strengthen the various district and regional security councils to prevent tribal conflicts in the Region.
The nominee gave the assurance when he appeared before the Appointment Committee of Parliament on Thursday, for vetting. "Under my tenure, I will work to ensure peace and harmony in the Region to ensure sustainable development. "I will work closely with the traditional authorities to prevent conflicts in the Region, instead of resolving conflicts," he assured.
