IGP Dr George Akuffo Dampare The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare has reiterated his assurance that the Police will provide top-notch security for the 2024 general elections. He said the Police administration will deploy officers to all the polling centres across the country. Dr Dampare said these while speaking at the Electoral Commission (EX) headquarters in Accra on Monday, August 19. He said "Since the commencement of the whole election process, we will be in and out of this place all in the spirit of engagement, in the spirit of working together to ensure that from the security point of view, there is peace, security, law and order before, during, and beyond the elections. "We want to assure all and sundry that we are poised for what is ahead," Dr Dampare also urged stakeholders including the political parties to play their roles well to ensure a peaceful election. "We urge them to do their part within the law and allow us to do our work within the law. So that when all is said and done Ghana will be the beneficiary," he stated.
