Prof Roger Kanton, a former Research Scientist at the Savannah Agricultural Research Institute (SARI) of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has expressed his concerns over the vetting process of Eric Opoku, the Minister-designate for Food and Agriculture.
Speaking in an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show on Tuesday, Prof Kanton criticised the Appointments Committee for not thoroughly scrutinising Opoku's qualifications and capabilities.
The vetting process, which took place on January 20, 2025, saw Eric Opoku outlining his vision for revitalising Ghana's agricultural sector.
Eric Opoku, who was nominated by President John Dramani Mahama, faced questions from the committee regarding his plans for the agricultural sector, including initiatives to boost cocoa production, revamp the poultry industry, and make agriculture more attractive to the youth.
