Alhaji Ustaz Ahmed Seidu, the Executive Secretary to the Ashanti Regional Chief Imams, has cautioned the former Northern Regional Secretary of the (NDC), Mohammed Abdul-Salam, to reject his appointment as Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Lottery Authority (NLA).

According to him, per Islamic teachings, it is against their rules and regulations for a Muslim to associate with anything related to gambling; hence, he needs to desist from such a role.

Speaking in an interview on Wontumi TV on January 17, 2025, he added that it would be an insult to his family to feed on lottery money. "According to Islamic teachings, it is haram for a Muslim to gamble; it is against Islamic teachings, it is haram totally. "The Quran has said that gambling is against our teachings, and you, as a Muslim, if you engage yourself in such activities, then it is something that I cannot understand.

So, I will caution him to stop the work as quickly as possible because he is Alhaji. "It will be an insult to the whole family for them to feed from lottery," he said.
