Eric Opoku, the Minister-Designate for Food and Agriculture, has disclosed that Ghana's cocoa production has plummeted to its lowest level in the past two decades.
Appearing before Parliament's Appointments Committee on Monday, January 20, Opoku referred to recent reports from the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) that showed a sharp decline in production.
According to Opoku, COCOBOD's transition engagement document revealed that the country's cocoa production for the current season is estimated at 530,000 metric tonnes.
