The Ghana Health Service (GHS) says Ghana has not recorded any sign of unusual respiratory pathogens such as the Human Metapneumovirus (hMPV) in China. The Service in a statement said it is closely monitoring the increase in acute respiratory infections, particularly those caused by the Human Metapneumovirus (hMPV) currently spreading across China and other parts of the Northern Hemisphere.
In a press release, the Service noted that the outbreak is not due to a new virus, unlike the case of COVID-19.
It clarified that hMPV-related respiratory infections typically increase during the winter season.
The GHS urged the public and healthcare professionals to remain vigilant and to adhere to preventive measures, including early detection to mitigate potential risks.
