President John Dramani Mahama is set to meet the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on Sunday, January 19, to discuss the escalating tensions in Bawku and Walewale.
The announcement came during the President's visit to the Nayiri Palace, where he held discussions with the King and Overlord of the Mamprugu Kingdom, Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga II.
Addressing concerns about the deteriorating security situation in the Upper East and Northern regions, President Mahama attributed the violence to chieftaincy disputes between two ethnic factions, which have caused significant loss of life and property.
He emphasized the need for peace and highlighted the Asantehene's wisdom and leadership in conflict resolution, pointing to his proven track record in mediating disputes.
