The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has assured the public that the fire said to be burning around the Akosombo Dam is nowhere near the dam and poses no threat to it.
This follows a fire outbreak which was reported near the Akosombo Dam in the Eastern Region, triggering widespread concern over potential risks to this critical national infrastructure.
In a Facebook post on Friday, the GNFS acknowledged the situation and emphasised that their personnel were closely monitoring the fire, remaining on high alert.
However, due to the inaccessible terrain, the team had been unable to reach the location to combat the fire.
