The government has deployed a combined team of police and military personnel to Nkwanta in the Oti Region to restore order after violent clashes believed to have originated from a chieftaincy dispute.

The violence, which erupted on Wednesday, January 15, and extended into Thursday night, has claimed three lives and left several others injured.
