In the intense battle over who becomes what in the second John Mahama administration, Victor Smith is said to be fighting hard to be made Foreign Minister, instead of Joyce Bawa Mogtari.  Earlier reports had confirmed to this portal that barring any last minute change of plans, Joyce Bawa Mogtari would named John Mahama's Foreign Minister in the second batch of Ministers List which was expected to have been released on Friday, 10th January, 2025 but has now been postponed to later tonight or Monday, 13th January, 2025.

The delayed is reportedly due to an intervention by the Eastern Region Caucus of the NDC demanding that "their man" Victor Smith be considered for the coveted Foreign Minister role.  MyNewsGh.com was told the former Ghana High Commissioner to the UK was spotted receiving heads of state and international guests during the Presidential inauguration in a move to show the new President his "diplomatic skills" for the job.

The Eastern Regional caucus of the party are reportedly using the number of votes they gave the ticket in the December election to make a case for Victor Smith who is strongly lobbying for the job.  Before the entrance of Victor Smith, the position is said to have been reserved for Joyce Bawa Mogtari, a lawyer of over 24 years standing with international maritime outlook and who has reportedly earned the trust of President Mahama.

She is said to have also gained some good international experience working on Ghana's maritime boundary dispute case with Ivory Coast at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS).  Joyce Bawa Mogtari had successfully beaten competition from North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Former Attorney General Marrietta Appiah Oppong Brew among others.  Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Related Topics:Feature Advertisement You may like Dumelo provides the surest way to reduce importation of Frozen Chicken to Ghana Think presidential - Appiah-Kubi encourages Mahama to rethink ministerial pledge Bishop Sam Owusu exposes tactics behind false prophecies in Ghana Mahama is Ghana's most privileged president - Bishop Owusu Come back with men of Integrity-Opele to NPP It's worrying former Parliamentarians live in penury-Bagbin Why God gave me a second term as Speaker-Bagbin explains Parliament needs a reset to make public service attractive-Bagbin Deputy AG clarifies misunderstanding over presidential pardon Click to comment Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
