The Minority in Parliament has urged President John Dramani Mahama to take decisive action by instructing law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute individuals responsible for acts of thuggery and violence following the elections.
According to the Minority, the president's establishment of the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) committee has allegedly emboldened some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to engage in acts of vandalism, including the destruction of state property and attacks on state institutions.
Speaking to the press, the Deputy Minority Leader, Patricia Appiagyei, said the President has a solemn responsibility to ensure the protection of all citizens. "Not just those who support his party, the NDC, it is deeply disheartening that in the face of these troubling developments, the President has remained largely silent since taking office. "While he had made a general call for calm as President-elect, this is not enough.
The President must demonstrate leadership by condemning these acts unequivocally and directing law enforcement agencies to act decisively.
