Former Interior Minister Ambrose Dery has openly attributed his loss in the 2024 parliamentary elections to his reassignment to the Office of the President, expressing that it had a significant impact on his relationship with his constituents.
While the defeat in the Nandom constituency came as a blow, Dery's reflections on the political consequences of his reshuffling shed light on the delicate balance between national politics and local support.
Dery, who has served as a member of parliament for many years, noted that his reassignment, although maintaining his status as a Cabinet Minister, shifted the public's perception of his influence. "I didn't think it was a big deal at my level because the President assured me and I continued to serve as a Cabinet Minister.
But when I returned home, the narrative had changed," he shared on Joy News in an interview.
