Caterers of the Ghana School Feeding Programme have staged a protest at the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection over unpaid wages.
In response to the protest, the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Darkoa Newman, assured the caterers that their term three salaries would be paid starting Tuesday, December 31.
Speaking to journalists, Minister Newman confirmed that the government had reached a consensus on the issue following extensive discussions with the leadership of the Ghana School Feeding Programme. "The outstanding payment for the third term should be paid tomorrow God willing.
They have come to understand all we have explained to them concerning the outstanding payment and they welcome the news that tomorrow our caterers will be paid for their third term. "Concerning the first term, they just ended their first term so they are doing their own internal processes at the School Feeding Secretariat to bring it to the ministry for us to append our signature.
