Speaker Alban Bagbin has ruled that the MPs-elect whose seats were annulled by the Ghanaian Electoral Commission (EC) are ineligible to be sworn-in on January 6, 2025.

This decision was taken after the EC declared that some parliamentary seats would not be sworn-in due to irregularities that occurred during the 2024 general elections.

The Speaker, in his statement, emphasized that the law does not permit a person to occupy a seat to which they were not lawfully elected.

As a result, the MPs-elect whose seats were annulled cannot be sworn-in as Members of Parliament.
