Sekondi Member of Parliament, Andrew Kofi Egyapa Mercer, has linked voter turnout in the recent elections to growing frustration over unfulfilled promises and economic hardship.
Speaking on Joy News' Super Morning Show on December 23, 2024, Mercer stated that many voters felt let down by the government's inability to meet their expectations, which influenced their decisions at the polls. "People voted because their promises hadn't been fulfilled," he said, highlighting the public's frustration with the political process.
He pointed out the struggling economy as a major reason for voter dissatisfaction. "No one can run away from the issues of the economy," he noted, stressing how economic hardships have affected citizens' daily lives.
Mercer also mentioned that the absence of incentives during party primaries discouraged some voters from participating, further deepening the disappointment.
