The Paramount Queenmother of the Sunyani Traditional Area, Nana Akosua Duaa Asor Sika Brayie II, has called on President-elect John Dramani Mahama to appoint more women into leadership positions. She said women are passionate for development and appointing many of them would benefit the nation. Nana Brayie II made the call when the national chairman of the NDC, Mr Asiedu Nketiah, paid a courtesy on the Sunyani Traditional Council in Sunyani to express the party's appreciation to the chiefs and queens for the NDC's electoral victory in the 2024 General Elections. The Paramount Queenmother entreated Mr Mahama to remain humble and serve the people with high integrity, asking the NDC next government to guard against pride. Mr Nketiah said the NDC remained grateful to the chiefs and queens for their support that contributed to the party's landslide victory in the elections, saying, though the NDC anticipated that, the electoral victory was beyond expectations. He said securing 27 parliamentary seats out of 29 constituencies in the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regions was a testament that Ghanaians truly desired a change in government, and gave the assurance that NDC would also fulfil its electioneering promises to the people. Nana Kwaku Sabeng, the Akwamuhene (sub chief) and the Acting President of the Sunyani Traditional Council lauded the previous NDC government for the development project they implemented in the Sunyani Municipality. He said he was hopeful that Mr Mahama's next administration would also work hard to the satisfaction of the electorate who gave the NDC the mandate to govern the nation again.
