The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah has fiercely criticized the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team, accusing them of playing politics with corruption claims.
In a recent appearance on TV3's The Key Points show, Assafuah argued that the committee's approach was simply an attempt to gain political leverage while unjustly targeting innocent individuals. "They are just playing to the gallery, doing politics with it and hunting innocent people," Assafuah said, condemning the actions of the ORAL members. "They are bound to fail." The ORAL initiative, which was introduced by President-elect John Dramani Mahama, aims to investigate and recover stolen state funds, particularly focusing on alleged corruption under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
However, Assafuah believes that this anti-corruption body is operating without legal standing. "This is an unconstitutional body that has no legal basis.
It is simply a populist approach," he remarked, pointing to the lack of formal legislative backing for the committee.
