The Precious Minerals Marketing Company Limited(PMMC) has condemned an attack on the National Assay Centre at the Aviance Cargo Terminal by a mob allegedly led by the National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Yammin.
According to PMMC, a mob on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, forcibly attempted to seize bullion bars being processed by PMMC for the Central Bank of Ghana claiming that the bars were to be smuggled secretly out of Ghana by certain political actors.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, December 18, PMMC referred to the allegation as false.
The organisation also indicated that the incident lasted between the hours of 16.00 GMT and about 12 midnight until the police intervened and moved the bullion bars to the Greater Accra Regional Police Command for safekeeping.
